WebSite Design

Now that you have selected and registered a domain name, chosen a web host to locate your website and databases, it’s now time to plan for your website. We will discuss building it right after we do the following:

  1. Map out on a piece of paper, how your website should look like – how many sections or pages, what pictures to use, what color schemes to use (less is better), what links you would like to have, will you post your customers references, will you trade on your website, collect client information, etc.
  2. For every page that you are planning to create, determine the following 3 components – page title (up to 60 characters), page description (up to 160 characters), and up to 10 associated keywords for the page. Please make sure that the keywords chosen, the descriptions are relevant to each page.

Ok, once Website planning is done, instant gratification phase of building your website starts now. There are several methods of creating your own websites, starting from the easiest option:

  1. Use the Sitebuilder that comes with your hosting package. This option gives you a step by step approach to building your website in practically minutes. The whole process is menu driven, to a point where the files are copied to your hosting directory automatically as part of the whole process.
  2. Templates - you can start by downloading great looking HTML templates, making all the changes you need to make it your own, and uploading the finished product using an FTP tool.  Tools suggested for this option are Photoshop for all your graphics work, a HTML editor like Windows Expression Web – but there are many others listed here on this list
  3. Custom build your very own website, from design, right up to publishing it on your web host directory. This option assumes that you are knowledgeable with HTML, CCS, flash coding, etc. A very good write up for this section can be found here.
  4. Hire us to design your website.
